About the Digital Well Metering System

System Description

The American Energy Resources Digital Well Metering System (DWMS) is an entirely automated monitoring solution. The system is comprised of TotalFlow and NuFlow turbine meters, and X Series Flow Computers (XFC) installed on producing properties, and two PC-based data management systems: WinCCU and WebCCU. With the exception of the NuFlow turbine meters and cell modem for communications, the system components are manufactured by ABB Totalflow®.

Remote management, data collection and archival capabilities for the metering devices are provided by the WinCCU software application, while the WebCCU web client retrieves and displays information from WinCCU databases to authorized users.

How it works
At scheduled intervals, the WinCCU application dials the cell phone number associated with each flow computer. Once the connection and handshake are completed, production data is automatically downloaded and stored to WinCCU databases, and the connection is terminated.

Once per day WinCCU automatically connects to a remote web server via TCP/IP and publishes new data to replicated WinCCU data sources residing on the server. Authorized users then log into the American Energy web site where they may initiate a WebCCU session and access the latest data set. In the current configuration (shown below) the system provides daily production values as recorded at the contract hour (8:00 AM MST) for both oil (BBL) and gas (MCF). Production values are reported in both list and chart views. For more information on a system component click the item of interest in the diagram below.
