Exploration in the D-J Basin

Basin MapOur team specializes in the sandstone formations of the Denver-Julesberg Basin. Mr. Jerrold Norris, our lead geologist, has been drilling in these fields daily since 1951. Collectively, our team has over 250 years of experience in these formations.

Exploration in this basin traditionally focused on the "D" and "J" sands deposited in the Cretaceous period. The basin's more recent history, as reported by GEOMAP® Company, consists of Paleozoic plays, such as Pennsylvanian targets in Cheyenne County in the 1980s, followed by Permian zones such as the Wykert Sandstone and Admire dolomites in Kimball County.

The results of exploratory drilling are filed with the state as a matter of public record. This map does a great job integrating the drilling history and geology of the basin.

Due Diligence

Management turnover matters. A proven, experienced operations team is critical to success. When analyzing a project from a company with a great track record, make sure that the drilling team, geologists and consultants on-site today are the same folks responsible for the results reported.
